WHAT I AM THINKING:

I’ve been exploring composition through negative circles that emerge from hundreds of arcs drawn across sheets of paper, all the while rotating the substrate between each stroke. Each of these pieces reaches for perfection in consistency of frequency and the stroke’s lightness/darkness. In the details we can find an abundance of imperfections from the handling of the drawing utensil and the drawing tools as well as the hiccups that are sometimes caused by the substrate. In the grand scheme of each piece in its entirety, these imperfections are lost and we feel the satisfaction of smooth forms emerging from the abundance of arcs and more often than not, we find familiarity in the compositions themselves.
